On Easter Sunday children roll brightly decorated, hard boiled eggs down a hill in a gesture to celebrate the resurection of Christ, the rolling eggs representing the removing of the stone which sealed Christ’s tomb.

This scene takes place on Tower Hill, Gourock, overlooking a spectacular view of The Firth of Clyde. The remains of dozens of eggs are scattered on the path after many families have taken part in this annual ritual.
